Moon essays
Moon essays In a speech by President Bush, he announced the implementation of our technology to be used on the moons surface. Doing this we will be able to establish a base to accommodate with the moons elements and how we could be able to extract oxygen from the moons rocks. Since it has been a prominent topic in the last few months, many directors and astronomers have been indecisive on how we could use the moons resources in several occasions. By establishing this strategy we will understand more about our moon and future missions. One way we could use some of the useful materials from the moon is by using iron to build structures on the moon, said Alan Binder, director of Lunar Research Institute in Tucson, Arizona. (Scientist) Other precious metals found in the moon are silicon, aluminum, magnesium and titanium. Silicon would be used to produce solar panels or solar cells by using a nuclear reactor. This would make it more convenient to the astronauts by using generated electricity in there labs. Aluminum would be some of the most important metals to build parts of the experimenting labs and even parts for the spacecraft. As for magnesium and titanium they would be used to make a more reliable and advanced spacecraft to travel farther into the solar system. Some of the plants or lunar bases that have to be built for this task to perform at top speed would consist of storage space for any sort of liquids, energy storage to maintain everything moving, and special buildings to protect the astronauts from solar radiation. One of the main reasons why we want to build a lunar base on the moon is to make it more indispensable for manned missions to other planets like Mars and having it as a practice field for future explorations. Another reason for this is to reduce more on the fuel by launching from the moon than by launching from the earths atmosphere, which has a greater source of gravity making it ...

Should You Get SAT Question and Answer Service for Score Verification
Should You Get SAT Question and Answer Service for Score Verification SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Do you want to use the results of your first SAT to study for your second attempt? Are you interested in seeing exactly how your SAT scores turned out the way they did? Do you love the SAT so much that you want to order 1600 copies of your test and dive into the pile of booklets like a much nerdier Scrooge McDuck (disclaimer: you can't actually do this)? Good news! The College Board provides the Student Answer Service and Question-and-Answer Service for the SAT to allow you to review your results in more detail after the test. In this article Iââ¬â¢ll go through how these services work, why you might use them, and how to order them. What Are the Student Answer Service and the Question-and-Answer Service? They are two slightly different ways to review your scores in more detail after you take the SAT. The Question-and-Answer Service is basically a full disclosure guide to your scores. It includes: A booklet copy of the test that you took, including all the original questions. A table of correct answers and scoring information for the questions. A comprehensive report that lists the question type and level of difficulty for each test question. This report also shows your answers and whether you answered correctly, incorrectly, or omitted the question. The QAS is available if you took the SAT in October, March, or May in the United States or Canada. For testers in other countries it is only available for May test dates. It costs $18 to order. If QAS isnââ¬â¢t available, you can always order the Student Answer Service, which includes: Information on the types of questions on your test. The level of difficulty for each question and whether your answer was correct, incorrect, or omitted. The Student Answer Service is essentially a pared down version of the Question-and-Answer Service. It won't include your test booklet, so it doesn't allow you to review the questions in their original forms. Basically, the College Board only wants to release official exams when it's ready to retire the entire exam. (You can read about how the College Board reuses questions, leading to cheating, here). The SAS costs $13.50 to order, and you better believe it's $13.50 of the SAS(S)iest review materials you'll ever see. Unfortunately, you donââ¬â¢t have the option to choose between these two services. One or the other will be available exclusively based on when and where you took the test. Hereââ¬â¢s a chart from the order form that makes it easy to figure out: Reasons to Order the Student Answer Service or Question-and-Answer Service The Student Answer Service and Question-and-Answer Service are useful and low-cost tools for reviewing your scores. Here are a few reasons why you should consider ordering whichever one is available to you: #1: To Figure Out Why You Got the Score You Did QAS gives you your entire test booklet, so you can review your answers and see exactly where your mistakes happened. You will know which question types tripped you up the most and their difficulty levels. #2: To Use as Review Material for the Next Time You Take the SAT You can see where your weaknesses were in the real test environment and use that information to guide your prep.QAS in particular is an excellent tool for this because you get your complete test booklet and can look in-depth at the questions you got wrong and the reasons why you missed them. #3: To See If a Mistake Was Made With Your Score Ordering QAS or SAS is the first step you should take if you are considering the more extreme option of Hand Score Verification.Hand Score Verification means your test is reviewed manually to see if an error was made in the scoring or scanning process. It costs a lot more, so you probably donââ¬â¢t want to order it without reviewing your results in more detail first. Signs of a scoring problem warranting further investigation might include a pattern of incorrect answers on a string of questions that should have been easy for you or a dramatically lower-than-expected overall score (as in 300+ points lower, not 50). The report you receive with the QAS or SAS shows you the correct answer, your answer, the question type (a key for this is provided), and the difficulty level. This makes it easy to detect these types of weird patterns. How to Order the Student Answer Service or Question-and-Answer Service You can order the Student Answer Service or Question-and-Answer Service during the process of test registration. This is something that you might consider if you know you are going to be taking the SAT again in the future and want to review your results to see how you can improve your scores. In this case, you should receive your materials in the mail within eight weeks of the test.If you are ordering the QAS or SAS after you take the test, there are a couple ways you can do it.You can place your order online through your College Board account by selecting ââ¬Å"Order Verificationâ⬠in the ââ¬Å"My Scoresâ⬠section. Or, if youââ¬â¢re old school or not paying with a card, here is a link to the order form that can be mailed in with payment. You can also order over the phone by calling the College Boardââ¬â¢s Customer Service. If you order score verification services five weeks or more after the test date, results will take up to three weeks to be mailed to you.Make sure you place your order within five months of your original test date! Zapessay2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Zapessay2 - Essay Example est by Bram Stoker (1914) is the story of Jonathan Haker, who receives an invite to Count Draculaââ¬â¢s castle that is on the borders of Moldavia and Transylvania. He receives various warnings on the way, and when he eventually gets there he realizes, though a little too late, that he is, in fact, a prisoner. The events that unfold within the rest of the novel purely based on Draculaââ¬â¢s superhuman nature, being a vampire and the fight that Jonathan puts up against Dracula (Poe et al 51-62). This paperââ¬â¢s primary focus is to compare the role that Montresor played in the Cask of Amontillado with that of Dracula in Draculaââ¬â¢s guest. The two are the main characters in both stories and despite the fact that the two novels were written during different time frames and different settings. Notably, there are a number of similarities and quite obviously differences that can be drawn from their personas. The following is a layout of their roles and representations, beginni ng with their similarities Both characters illustrate deceitful tendencies. They use friendship and kindness to lure their victims. Montressor carefully tricks Fortunato into thinking that he has the best wine for him knowing very well that Fortunato happens to have a weakness for the drink. This illustrates that Montressor in his selfish quest is willing to use the weaknesses that he is well aware his friend has against him (Espinosa 34). Dracula, on the other hand, uses his sophisticated appearance and educational appeal to lure Jonathan into feeling at home. It is because of this same appearance that it takes Hacker some time to realize that he has been lured into being Draculaââ¬â¢s slave. To capitalize on the extent of their deceitfulness, both characters only show the true nature of their personaââ¬â¢s after their victims are well into their thresholds and their intentions are clearly only in their own best interests (Stoker 28-32). Montresor depicts himself as being very proud. Despite that he is not

Disaster preparedness (case) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Disaster preparedness (case) - Essay Example One of the best strengths was that they were prepared and had a strategy already in force in case of a volcanic eruption. The strategy allowed the eruption area to be classified into zones. The zones helped keep people out of the more dangerous areas. The volcano was constantly monitored so that if there were an indication of an eruption, those in the area could be warned. This is the type of preparedness that is necessary to prevent more than necessary losses. A weakness in the Mount Pinatubo eruption is the way that the people near the volcano were evacuated. The evacuation is controlled by the local authorities. This is not enough. More structured evacuation techniques should have been in place to aid those living near the volcano, a way out. Not everyone may have accessibility to find out that there is a warning. A better effort could have been taken to inform those of the eruption. The Philippine governments never even issued a warning until after the eruption even though they had prepared efforts in place. The people in the village were able move to temporary housing until the evacuation was complete. The temporary housing was like bunkers. This allowed the people of the village to relocate to a safe location. The people that were relocated were also able to find temporary work. This temporary work helped with common living expenses. Plans like this that allowed for temporary housing and work were a great strength to response efforts. Although not all of the efforts were strengths, it was important to do the best and remain calm in a panic situation. Natural disasters like the eruption allowed for future response efforts to be bettered because there was much to learn from the mistakes. Question 2 - Perry et al (2005) describe three critical social management techniques for responding to volcanic disasters. Describe how you would apply these techniques to preparedness and response efforts involving a volcanic disaster such as the eruption of

Comparing the Judgmental Society in Ministers Black Veil and Scarlet Letter :: comparison compare contrast essays
A Judgmental Society in Ministers Black Veil and Scarlet Letter Our society is too judgmental and it always has been. Even in the time Hawthorne wrote of in The Scarlet Letter and in "The Ministers Black Veil" people judged before they knew the truth. Objects were judged even though they had no relevance on what really happened. In "The Ministers Black Veil" no one knew why the minister wore the veil but everyone assumed it meant shame and that he had something to hide. I think that the minister thought that it was his mission to show how superficial the people were. The ministers own fiancee left him because no one knew anything about the veil he wore. Again in The Scarlet Letter, I can think of two more major examples where an object was used as a sign or omen. The first is of course the letter, it meant evil, shame, and sin to the townspeople. All it was, was a letter nothing more, nothing less. The second object that people took as a prolific sign was the weeds on a grave. They reasoned that the weeds were there because of the sins of that person, and that the weeds grew because flowers could not. People then and now take symbols too deeply and meaningful. People often take events to be meaningful and supernatural. In The Scarlet Letter the meteor meant some great act of God or the Devil was about to take place. All a meteor is, is a chunk of rock of that is being incinerated in our atmosphere. As a second example, when a person was up on the scaffold it meant that they deserved scorn and ridicule and no mercy. The scaffold meant you had shame and guilt and it was for all the others to see. In those times people were taken to mean things as well. Hester was good hearted and almost clean but was seen as a sinful evil person, to be avoided at all costs. Chillingworth was seen as a kindhearted doctor only there to help people when in actuallity he was an evil, sadistic man concerned only with his complete revenge on Dimesdale. The minister, or reverend, is seen as a holy reverent person, to be looked upon as a level of holiness to achieve.

Being short heighten they canââ¬â¢t reach up to pee in the urinal. One standing in the right has his knees bent and the one standing in left has his knees crossed. They both have flinching expressions on their faces and they holding their stomach. Where as the third vertically challenged person standing in the middle looks content and is smoking and offering Hamlet Cigar from the packet to the person standing left to him. Though his legs are a little bent too which mean he also wants to take a leak but his expression are very cool and calm. In ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emilyâ⬠, William Faulkner uses imagery and symbolism to both illustrate and strengthen the most prevalent theme; Emilyââ¬â¢s resistance to change. William Faulkner seems to reveal this theme through multiple descriptions of Miss Griersonââ¬â¢s actions, appearance, and her home. Throughout the short story it is obvious that Emily has a hard time letting go of her past, she seems to be holding onto every bit of her past. Readers see this shown in several ways, some more obvious than others. William Faulkner uses imagery to represent Miss Griersonââ¬â¢s confrontation to change by vividly describing her appearance. With the description given of Emily, readers might conclude that it symbolizes her inability to change. He describesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦She, Emily, is physically living but not in the present; she is stuck living in her past. We first see this when her father dies, ââ¬Å"She told them that her father was not dead. She did that for three days, with the ministers calling on her, and the doctors, trying to persuade her to let them dispose of the body.â⬠(Faulkner). This depicts that she is enamored of the dead which is why she resists in letting them bury her father. Emily did not want to kept denying her fatherââ¬â¢s death so she decided to hold onto him. By the description Faulkner gives, one may say Emily just did not know how to adapt to change. With that being said, she feared change so she did not want to let go because she was so dependent on her father and now he was gone. Once Emily passed on and was buried, people from her town go into her house and discover a decomposed corpse along with the strand of gray hair on the pillow next to what was formerly Homer Barron. Faulkner explains in detail yet again what was found, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦What was left of him, rotted beneath what was left of the nightshirtâ⬠¦Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a headâ⬠¦we saw a long strand of iron-grey hairâ⬠. With this being said it is discovered that she, Emily, had been sleeping next to his dead body for years. These two examples are prime reasons one could conclude that she had an issue letting go of her past. William Faulkner packs the short story ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emilyâ⬠with different types of literary devices that describes the fight against change in the post-U.S. Civil War South. Faulknerââ¬â¢s story takes place in the Southern town of Jefferson Mississippi in the late 1800ââ¬â¢s, early 1900ââ¬â¢s.
